"Pour Notre Roi" Eng/

On New Years Eve 2006, I had the honor of seeing the film directed by Norodom Sihnaouk [King Father of Cambodia] titled: "Pour Notre Roi" [For Our King]. "Pour Notre Roi" was based on the novel by the French Writer Pierre Benoit titled "Pour Don Carlos" [For Prince Charles] and set in Cambodia on the eve of the Khmer Rouge Nighmare [16 of April 1975].

Four members of the royalist resistance fought the Republicans and Communists who destroyed Cambodia between 1970-1991. The Communists Khmer Rouge decided to execute the remaining Royalist Resistance before entering Phnom Penh.

The end of the film showed what was to be the true colors of the Khmer Rouge as they entered Phnom Penh on 17th of April 1975. We must not forget the Cambodian Holocaust.

We must not forget that there were elements [Republicans and Communists] in Cambodia who participated in the destruction of a beautiful land slowly beginning its recovery, We must not forget how the Western World in its obsession with human rights did nothing to stop the Killing Fields. This did not surprise me as the Western World did nothing to stop the killings in Rwanda. At least Vietnam stopped the Killing Fields in 1979 for whatever reason, only time will tell.
