Veterans and Mental Illness have been locked in inner combat since the days of the Civil War. After World War II and the Korean War, many had to hide their illnesses for fear of "what would the neighbors think".
It was after the Vietnam War that this started to become a full fledged problem. This problem was created by the US Government of Republicans and Democrats and an American People [if they exist] that were ungrateful and started doing acts of repudiation against the soldiers that rivaled Castro's Act of Repudiation.
The result were three types of veterans. One that started doing drugs and crime, others that left the USA [after accumulating enough money in jobs] to live elsewhere. A Tiny Minority even renounced their US Citizenship after such Acts of Repudiation.
Instead of blaming the politicians, the US People [I can express my opinion since I was born in the US "Nation"] blamed the Veterans. Of course, the US "People" were abated by a Media that was controlled by Republicans and Democrats that blamed the Vietnam Veteran for everything. [This is the same US Media that excludes minorities, Independent Thinking , and promotes Death and Destruction].
It is not surprising that all of this took their told on the Veteran who at least went to a war under orders.
Iraq and Afghanistan are unnecessary wars but we should at least treat the soldier with compassion and care regardless of our feelings towards the war. We should also clean our USA of undesirables such as our politicians and media figures who promote hatred and violence just to perpetuate themselves.
