Work and Family

March 24, 2007 / by alvarezgalloso

The Police once recorded a song whose verse state the following: "We Are Ants In The Material World". We are forced to sacrifice our family for a paycheck in order to sustain education, clothes, and food for our children. The Workplace demands more, more, and more and we receive less, less, and less. At the end of the day, the workplace [using the phrase by The King Father Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia] "spits us like a cherry pit" [euphemism for "You're Fired"].

The employee has little time secondary to the addiction to the mindless babble of TV and the World Wide Web. I challenge employees to spend time with their family and find a family friendly job. In other words, if the workplace wants the employee to place work above family, the employee should dedicate the following verse by Johnny Paycheck: "Take This Job and Shove It I Ain't Working Here Anymore.
